Does Social Media Work for B2B?

Many B2B marketers shrug off Social Media Networks. Their comments reflect their belief that Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are the domain of B2C markets and don't really fit in their marketing toolbox.

So, when the following stats from Adam Holden-Bache were shared with me, I thought it important to pass them on. They might surprise you:

  • 86% of B2B firms are using social, compared to 82% of B2C, however B2B firms are not as active with only 32% engaging on a daily basis compared with 54% of B2C firms.

  • Over 53% of marketers surveyed said they used social media as part of their marketing strategy, which is up from 45% in 2009.

  • Only 50% of B2B marketers formally analyze metrics to judge ROI - but those who do find online marketing more effective.

  • B2B marketing spending on social networking sites is predicted to rise 43%.

  • B2B social media spending is forecast to grow from just $11 million in 2009 to $54 million in 2014.
These are just a few of the impressive stats that were shared on Holden-Bache's blog.
