MARKETING TIP #081
New Rules of Public Relations

It used to be that the only way to get “in the news” was to have your information picked up by the media.

Not any more.

The Web has by-passed the media and gone direct to the consumer or business buyer with content rich “news.” Today, companies and consumers are the new “publishers” creating material that goes direct to the buyer’s computer screen – no filters, no changes, no mis-quotes.

Publishing Web-style is the hottest way to create news that’s read and acted upon. PR now can not only go to editors and producers, but can also go directly to the end reader through press releases that are used on the company’s web site and can also be used in e-mail releases as well as material for RSS feeds and Google News Alerts.

If you’re still thinking the old way, (Hmmm, we don’t have any news to tell), think again.

  • Have a new product?  Send out a release.
  • Added to your staff?  Send out at release.
  • Have a new customer?  Send out a release.
  • Win an award?  Send out a release.
  • Created a line extension?  Send out a release.
  • Have a new case study?  Send out a release.

Press releases give you credibility and help to create buzz around your brand and your company. It makes your employees proud to represent your brand. Call us to help you get the buzz started.
