Branding Inside - Getting Employees on Board
If you want employees who are charged up about your brand and work hard to get consumers involved, you have to grab them by their heartstrings. According to Gallup's landmark poll on employee engagement, "We are first and foremost emotional beings. Our highest-level goals are set by emotion, not reason."
The challenge for any brand is to know how many of your employees are really engaged in your company and your brand. Here’s a place to start, according to Gallup. Put these 12 statements in front of all of your employees and ask them to agree or disagree. The more agreement you get, the more engaged and productive your people are, and the more your customers will want to come back. And, if your employees just laugh when you give them the Q12, then, my friend, you have work to do.
- I know what is expected of me at work.
- I have the materials and equipment I need to do my work.
- I have the opportunity to do what I do best every day.
- In the past week I have been praised for doing good work.
- Someone at work encourages my development.
- My opinions seem to count.
- My company’s mission makes me feel my job is important.
- I have a best friend at work.
- In the past six months, someone at work has talked to me about my progress.
- I have had opportunities to learn and grow at work.
