Most Valuable Brand in the World
Can you name the most valuable brand in the world?
If you’re thinking, “It’s the real thing!” you’ve got it right.
Coca-Cola was valued at $67 billion in brand value in 2004. Microsoft, at $61 billion, came in at the number two slot.
Today’s CEOs are demanding valuations on brands; all wanting to know exactly how much their brand is worth in cold, hard cash; placed as a line item on the balance sheet.
Which can get a little tricky since there are a lot of intangibles that go into the valuation of a brand: reputation, good will, trust, emotional attachment and future purchases based on loyalty. But brand valuations are steadily being calculated. Here are the top ten brand valuations as of 2004:*
1. Coca-Cola - $61 billion
2. Microsoft - $61 billion
3. IBM - $53 billion
4. General Electric - $44 billion
5. Intel - $33 billion
6. Disney - $27 billion
7. McDonald’s - $25 billion
8. Nokia - $24 billion
9. Toyota - $22 billion
10. Marlboro - $22 billion
